Why did you become an attorney?

After college I served seven years in the United State Marine Corp.  I decided to go into the field of law due to the influence of my father who was also an attorney.  I admired and respected his integrity and passion for representing his clients in civil litigation.

I was accepted to law school, obtained my Juris Doctorate, and have been an practicing attorney for the past 30 years.  As a lawyer of a small family practice, focusing on personal injuries, workers’ compensation and social security, I have come into contact with many different types of clients all of whom were interesting and unique in their own way.  I love the challenge and problems presented with each case as well as the stimulation from the action and court work.

What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?

First of all, the main influence in the way I conduct my professional life was my father.  My father was an attorney and built a practice in workers’ compensation and social security based on hard work, integrity and, at all times, providing the client with fair and expert representation.

My years of service in the United States Marine Corp., as a fighter pilot, has instilled the work ethic, confidence and leadership skills that fit and transition perfectly for the legal field especially, in the preparation of a trial before a jury.

What made you choose your primary specialty focus of law?

Workers’ compensation is a unique and specialized category of both administrative law and civil law.  Workers’ compensation is mostly administrative law which does not require a Judge and a jury but more so a matter of gathering the facts and presenting the evidence so that the injured worker can participate in the workers’ compensation program.  However, in some cases there is a dispute that remains and it is required to pursue that issue into the Courts.  I have found that my experience as a trail attorney, especially in workers’ compensation cases, has allowed me to be a successful worker's compensation attorney in all matters workers' comp.
