Allison L. Harrison

Allison L. Harrison

I work with clients to get to know the short and long term goals. While the problem at hand may be short term issue (resolve a lawsuit) I work with the business owner to implement polices to prevent the issue from happening again. I do my best to be down to earth and explain everything in plain English. I also strive to keep billing straight forward and reasonable.

What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?

Running my own law firm helped me understand better the needs and struggles of small busines owners. It is one thing to advise a client on how to fire an employee and document it correctly, it is another to fire and document it yourself. Understanding all of the administrative work that goes into running a company has helped me focus my advice to be more practical.

What made you choose your primary specialty focus of law?

My family was full on entreprneuers - its in my blood. I know how much of business owners put their heart and soul into their work. I want to be there to help the owner when they hit a speed bump. I understand how much any legal issue can take you away from the business and want to make that process as easy as possible.

I also believe that businesses owners work hard and should be paid for their services. This has driven my work in collections, helping businesses get paid for all their hard work.

What makes your law firm unique?

We typically are called in by clients when their is a problem - they were sued or received a bad check. We work with the business to solve that issue and work to implement policies to prevent it from happening again.

We also work to provide easy to implement policies and procedures. What may work for a company of 50 does not work for a company of 5. We taylor our advice to make it less disruptive to our Client to implement.

Describe your personal interest and hobbies.

I recenlty purchased a peloton bike and have been cycling like crazy - it might be my new hobby. I also love to ski and golf. Outside of those activities, I love to cook. With the restuarants closed due to COVID I expanded my repirotre to include a lot more seafood.

Describe your charitable activities.

I am the President of the Diversity Chamber of Central Ohio, the LGBT chamber of commerce in Columbus. Outside of my work for the chamber, I also regluarly particpate in or donate to the Human Rights Campagin, Columbus Urban Leauge, and American Cancer Society. I volunteer with Legal Aid on not-for-profit corporation work and business formation for low income individuals.
