W. Blair Lewis
YEARS OF PRACTICE:19 years
I was working as an arcthiect and realized that numerous legal issues arise in the design and construction industries. I felt my background as an architect and engineer would help me in representing clients in legal matters involving design, construction and real estate. I decided to continue working and go to law school at night.
My experience as an architect and engineer has definitely helped me become a better attorney when dealing with construction and real estate issues. Also, my experience working for big law firms has definitely made me a better attorney.
I began my career working for a design firm. While I was working there, the firm was sued for negligent design. The lawsuit settled and my firm paid a significant amount toward the settlement. The problem that gave rise to the lawsuit was a construction, not a design problem. I have always felt that the only reason the firm didn't get out of the lawsuit without paying anything was because the lawyers did not understand the difference between a construction and design issue. Ever since then, I wanted to become a lawyer and help people and businesses with their legal issues involving construction or real estate.
My firm brings big law firm experience to matters at a small law firm rate. Additionally, as a sole practitioner, I am able to deal with all the matters that come to my firm personally. No matter how small the matter, it is handled by me as opposed to a less experienced attorney.
I have a private pilots license and I like to fly little planes. I also like to play golf even though I'm not very good at it.
