What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?

In my years of practice, I have had quite a bit of experience in the courtroom. I have done several trials as well as presented oral arguments on motions before judges.  Every year, I attend as many continuing legal education classes as I can to ensure that I am aware of any updates in the law.  Additionally, I have always cared about my clients' cases and work hard to bring those cases to satisfactory conclusions.

What made you choose your primary specialty focus of law?

My law practice focuses on domestic and employment law. My clients are either going through a divorce or having problems with their employment. In other words, they are going through a stressful transition in their lives. I believe that I am compassionate, understanding, caring, and non-judgmental, and I really help my clients get through difficult times in their lives.

What makes your law firm unique?

I believe that it is really important to educate my clients about their cases and to communicate with them regularly and consistently so that they are involved in the process.  My clients and I work as a team.  Additionally, my dog and my assistant's dogs often visit the office, and that seems to ease the stress of many clients!

Describe your ideal client.

My ideal clients are the ones who communicate with me about their cases and listen to my advice.

Describe your personal interest and hobbies.

I love to read and work-out.

Summary of Firm

My firm's philosophy is to assist clients who are going through very difficult transitions in their lives.  They are either going through a job loss, a divorce or child custody case.  The attorneys of my office feel strongly that it is important to have regular, consistent communication with our clients so that they can make informed decisions about their cases.  We understand that we are expensive, and we try to be fair with our clients in our billing.  We do all that is necessary for their cases; however, we constantly analyze the costs and benefits of a decision and discuss that analysis with our clients prior to making that decision.

Summary of Previous Employment

After law school, I practiced law in Huntington, West Virginia, where my focus was general litigation and medical malpractice defense. I spent a large amount of time in the courtroom. I moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 1999, where I continued my practice in general litigation. As I became more experienced, I became more interested in employment and domestic law. Now that I have opened my new practice, I am able to focus on both those areas of law.
