Why did you become an attorney?

I was a victim of police brutality as a teenager, and this experience was the catalyst in my goal to defend the rights of others. While attending a campus block party at Ohio State University, I was hit with a tear gas canister as police officers tried to disperse a crowd of students. Police officers then hit me with flashlights, zip tied my hands and slammed my body on the ground several times.

Police further infringed upon my rights during the questioning and investigation when I was refused my right to counsel. Evidence also was tampered with, and I was charged with five false counts of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, failing to leave the scene of an emergency, rioting and disorderly conduct.

I was acquitted of all charges, but this unfair and unjust situation has inspired me to defend the rights of people facing criminal charges. I have devoted my life to principles of fairness and justice in the treatment of my clients and the outcomes I seek on their behalf.

What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?

Working as a former juvenile public defender allowed me the opportunity to work with a variety of people facing criminal charges. During this experience, I worked with young people who found themselves tangled in the criminal justice system. I saw first hand how important legal representation can be.

During my years at the San Diego Public Defender's Office, I had the opportunity to work one-on-one with juveniles accused of various crimes, both felony and misdemeanors. Now, I use his past experiences to help clients, both children and adult, understand the challenges they are facing and help them through the complexity of criminal charges.

What made you choose your primary specialty focus of law?

I chose to fight for the rights of people facing criminal charges after I was falsely accused of committing crimes. This lead me to want to help others facing criminal accusations. I understand how complex the criminal justice system can, and I want to work to ensure my clients are fairly represented. Everyone has a basic right to counsel and it should not be ignored.

What makes your law firm unique?

My focus is your case and how best to serve you as my client. I will be upfront and honest with you regerding your charges. I understand all people go through things in life and sometimes our decisions can affect us in a negative way, I am here to help ease that frustration to the best of my ability...

Describe your ideal client.

An ideal client at Joslyn Law Firm is someone who is ready to combat the criminal charges against them. When a person is accused of a crime, he or she should not take the accusation lightly. That person should know they have a right to legal counsel. This means the person has the opportunity to present his or her side of the story and be heard. The criminal justice system can be tough, but when a client is ready to work with an attorney, he or she could get a favorable outcome in a case.

Describe your personal interest and hobbies.

I like to travel and see the world and I enjoy seeing the different walks of life. I was a semi-pro boxer. I enjoy many sports to play and watch. I am a Buckeye fan, go bucks. I take pride in taking care of my health I am an avid fan of fitness.
