Why did you become an attorney?

When I entered law school I wanted to be a Public Defender, helping the less fortunate in society to protect their rights. This may have translated itself into my current practice... helping children who are in need.

What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?

My experience at Franklin Co. Children Services was invaluable. It not only helped me to become a better attorney, but also helped me to be a better parent.

What made you choose your primary specialty focus of law?

At Franklin Co. Children Services, I became immediately connected to adoption law. Being able to assist children in receiving a forever, safe and stable home gives me a sense of worth as a lawyer, and as a human being.

What makes your law firm unique?

My firm is unique in that I spent many years representing FCCS, learning the 'beginning' of the adoption/ legal process in Juvenile Court. In private practice, I now use that experience to help families complete the adoption process.

Describe your personal interest and hobbies.

Family is most important, and being with them is how I spend my 'free' time.

Describe your charitable activities.

I am a member of The Harmony Project [see]. The Harmony Project embraces the mission of transforming the community through service and song. It provides an opportunity for individuals of different racial backgrounds, religions, ages, political affiliations, and sexual orientations to work toward performing at an artistic level they had never imagined, and bond through the collective experience of community service. Walls are torn down and bridges are built. The result: a stronger, more inclusive community. We Sing. We Serve. We Share.

I also volunteer for various activities through my church.
